Sales grew by 8 percent to €530 million for Carl Zeiss' Vision Care & Consumer Optics segment in the first half ended March 31, thanks in particular to new product launches in the the fields of branded lenses and camera lenses. Offsetting a 13 percent decrease in Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, they contributed to a 5 percent sales increase to €2,322 million for the German-based group. Zeiss' operating earnings (Ebit) reached €280 million in the period, or €90 million above the level of a year earlier. Further growth is expected in the second half of the financial year.
