Sauflon has started a new program to help independent British eye care professionals to survive during the recession. The program is intended to generate repeat business, and includes promoting the company's ?protector plan,? which allows practitioners to have a range of contact lenses and solutions delivered to their establishments or directly to the customers.

As part of this protector plan, the eye care professional can also package the lenses and solutions together to meet each patient's individual needs. The company's website notes that patients who have to pick up their supplies at an ophthalmic practice are three times more likely to end the relationship with their practitioner.

Sauflon was also planning a direct mailing to optical professionals in the U.K. featuring special product offers, materials for their practices and information on another program it is offering in which it provides one-to-one direction on how practitioners can boost sales and profits.
