Shamir Optical Industry is being sued in its home country of Israel by Dymotech, its partner in the partly owned subsidiary Inray, which was also named in the suit. Dymotech says that Shamir illegally used the intellectual property of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology. Dymotech wants damages and other monetary compensation, as well as a restraining order to be imposed preventing further use of its intellectual property. It is claiming about $28 million. Shamir said it was too early to comment on the possible outcome of the action.
