Silhouette has decided in the end to put its own brand name on a line of luxury eyewear that will replace the collection licensed from Swarovski, a brand that will be taken up by Marcolin. Separately, the European Sunglass Association has picked Silhouette as the winner of this year's ESA Visionary Award. More than 75 percent of the publishers polled chose the Austrian brand instead of two other candidates ? Julbo and Oakley. Sunglasses represent only about 10 percent of Silhouette's sales, but company executives feel that the ratio should be higher, given the enormous market potential that plano and corrective sunglasses have by adding color to the person's look.
