Visitors at next month's SILMO fair, running in Paris from Oct. 27 to Oct. 30, will be able to watch the live beginning of a yacht race on a big screen, stumble through a darkened tour of the blind's eye and romp through a children's area while brushing up on the latest eyewear fashion trends and going about their normal business.
The yacht race, which is a well-known annual event in France, is called La Route du Rhum ? La Banque Postale. The beginning of the competition will be shown in the fair's new Sports Attitude section on Oct. 29, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.. Located in Hall 1 ? A03, this 120-square-meter area will exhibit the sports and solar styles of numerous brands.
In the ?Juste pour voir? (= just to see) section, located in Hall 1 ? S77, visitors will be invited to put on sight distorting goggles and take a 10-minute guided tour through a darkened space, helping them to better understand the world of a visually impaired person. Hall 1 ? D41 will host the Univers Kids, a playfully decorated forum that will illustrate the specific needs of children in the areas of lenses and frames, using a selection of brands and products.
As always, the corridor connecting Halls 1 and 2 will showcase the latest fashion trends of the industry at large in a surrounding highlighted by dramatic décor. The organizers have called this section ?Point de Vue? (= viewpoint).
In all, the upcoming SILMO will be housed in 4 halls, covering 85,000 square meters of Paris' Parc des Expositions. There will be about 1,000 exhibitors from all over the world. Roughly 44,000 trade professionals are expected to visit.
