Swiss Optical Group presented for the first time its Automatic PD Scanner for highly accurate pupillary distance measurements and the Fitting Room for self-service virtual fittings at this year's Silmo show in Paris. The scanner costs €5,995, while the Fitting Room device is priced at €1,495. The database of the devices, which are manufactured in the company's own factory in the Netherlands, encompasses 5,000 branded frames that can be tried on virtually. The materials for the devices are bought in Japan. Target customers for the Swiss Optical Group are optical retail chains, as their staff is not as trained and mistakes can be reduced by using the devices. Its first client is the Dutch retail chain Kruidvat, belonging to A.S. Watson, which has already installed 50 PD scanners in its stores. The company also offers an online fitting room.
