The 25th edition of the Optom Congress, the scientific and professional event in the field of optometry and ophthalmic optics, will be held in the framework of the ExpoOptica International Optics, Optometry and Audiology Exhibition, organized by Ifema Feria de Madrid. It will take place on April 13-15. The new schedule is supposed to strengthen synergies between the two events, while offering scientific advances in optometry and ophthalmic optics as well as the latest innovations from brands, all under one roof. The organization of the Optom Congress and ExpoOptica on the same dates is the result of an institutional arrangement that is renewed every two years. The inaugural conference will be given by Francisco Martínez Mojica, tenured professor of microbiology at the University of Alicante, winner of the Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine in the U.S. and a candidate for the Nobel prizes in medicine and chemistry. Martínez Mojica is the father of the CRISPR/Cas 9 genetic editing technique.
