The British company Sauflon Pharmaceuticals plans to build a £10 million (12.7m-$19.8m) contact lens manufacturing plant near Budapest with the help of an investment subsidy from the Hungarian government. The company plans to start with a production capacity of 100 million lenses per year, gradually growing to reach 350 million in three to four years. The amount of the subsidy will not be revealed until the project receives approval from the European Union.
