The Danish Coop has started to sell contact lenses over the internet and it may do the same for glasses. A specialized Danish retailer, Linse Express, has being doing this since 1995, selling its contact lenses also in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Iceland, and it has recently acquired a competitor, Linseshop.dk, but according to a Danish report, only 3 percent of the contact lenses sold in Denmark go through the internet, compared with about 20 percent in Sweden. A subsidiary of Pearle Europe in Finland uses the internet, and its Danish subsidiary, Synoptik, is now considering doing the same.
