The European Sunglass Association, which is staging its annual convention at Lagonissi near Athens next June 1-2, and the American Sunglass Association attracted more than 160 decision-makers from the global sunglass industry to an annual joint cocktail and dinner during the MIDO fair in Milan, marking a double-digit increase from one year ago. The two associations gave a prize to two of their founding members, George Chao of Taiwan and Riccardo Polinelli of Italy, for their contribution to the industry. Also known as ?the godfather? of the industry, Chao, who is 72 years old, runs Contour Optics, a company with an annual turnover of about $20 million and two factories in China. Polinelli, 63, remains active in the industry after selling one of its production companies, LEM, to Orange 21.
