The Federal Court of Justice in Germany has prohibited the advertising of a free spare pair glasses when a consumer purchases a pair at full price. A German optical chain from Böblingen, Binder, had advertised the second free pair for everyone, who bought glasses with certain lenses. Consumers had the choice between glasses with premium lenses priced at €239 or €499 at the retail level. The Center for Combatting Unfair Competition took action against Binder.
