The French eyewear market grew by 4 percent to an estimated €3.46 billion at retail in the first half of this year. Sales of lenses, which represented 58 percent of the total turnover, grew by 3.5 percent in volume and by 3.9 percent in value, with progressive lenses taking up 51 percent of the total market. Contact lenses saw their sales grow by 8 percent to €286 million during the period. As for sunglasses, their sales are up by only 1 percent for the 12-month period ended last June 30.
