The French ophthalmic optics market stood at €6.54 billion in 2015, according to GfK. Sales were mostly driven by spectacle lenses, with revenues up by 4.4 percent compared with 2014, and an average selling price of €297, as compared to €295 in 2014. Spectacle lenses sales accounted for 60.9 percent of the total. THe magazine Bien Vu says that retail sales were concentrated under 13 banners, which accounted for 71 percent of the revenues. The top 5 banners were Optic 2000, Krys, Les Opticiens Mutualistes, Alain Afflelou and Générale d'Optique. Independent optical retailers accounted for 49.8 percent of the sales.
