The Hong Kong Optical Fair reports an 8 percent increase in the number of buyers to 14,000 for its last edition of Nov. 6-8, compared with the previous one. Most of the buyers came from the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, the U.S., Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Australia. The organizers noted major increases in attendance from distant countries such as Egypt, South Africa, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, the U.S., the Netherlands and Spain. The Hong Kong Trade Development Council organized 70 buying missions from 50 countries and regions, bringing over 3,800 major importers, distributors and retailers to the fair, which hosted a record of nearly 700 exhibitors.
