The new president of the Swiss Optics Suppliers Association (SOV) is Thomas Fischer, managing director of Knecht & Müller, a 31-year-old Swiss surfacing laboratory for corrective lenses that produces about 250,000 units per year. The association stems for a merger in 2006 of the organizations that represented suppliers of contact lenses and of other ophthalmic optics products. It currently groups 30 companies that control about 75 percent of the market, which was estimated at about 1.2 billion Swiss francs (€970m-$1.32bn) in 2009.
