The optical segment of A.T. Cross Company saw a nice 24.1 percent increase in sales for the first quarter ended April 4, rising to $12.1 million. The division includes the sunglass brand Costa Del Mar and the recently acquired Native Eyewear. The company as a whole had sales that dropped by 14.9 percent to $30.9 million, with a net loss of $0.9 million, compared with income of $0.6 million for the same period in 2008.
