The Optocoop buying group, which distributes the Oxo brand of eyewear to the 425 members of this Italian cooperative, generated sales of €116.2 million in 2003, roughly the same level as the previous year. The volume sold was actually slightly down on 2002, but higher-priced items such as new generations of lenses weighed more heavily in the product mix. A significant fall in sales of sunglasses, down 10 percent, was compensated by 16 percent growth in sales of prescription eyewear.
