The organizers of DaTE, the small four-year-old designer eyewear show...

2019-09-26T00:00:00+01:00

The organizers of DaTE, the small four-year-old designer eyewear show in Florence, plan to stage an international event in Milan next spring about the culture that surrounds the world of eyewear. The most recent edition of the Florence show, which ended on Sept. 25, saw a small drop in exhibitors and a bigger one in the number visitors. A total of 121 exhibitors showed 180 brands, down from 200 a year ago. Attendance fell from about 3,000 to 2,500, and this was attributed by the organizers to more serious selection criteria, discarding purely “curious” people and focusing on real buyers. On the other hand, the show and its contents produced more than 43,000 views on Facebook and Instagram.
