The organizers of Mido have announced the addition of a new satellite area to showcase creators of artisan eyewear, creative technology and innovation at the Feb. 27-29 edition of the Milan trade show. Called “More!” it will be located inside the Mido Design Lab. The initiative was presented by Mido's management at a special event in New York because the U.S. represents one-fourth of Italy's eyewear exports, with a 31.9 percent increase in the first six months of this year. Mido also said that it is emphasizing its new communications strategy with social profiles and posting on such platforms as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Google+, Linkedin and Flickr. Mido reported an 8.7 percent increase in attendance to 49,000 visitors at its last edition. A certification institute put the official number of visitors at a total of 23,766, including 13,243 Italians, and said they made 34,531 visits to the show. The organizers point out that these figures don't include several hundreds of VIP, Honor and Guest visitors, plus a few thousands of visitors whose badges are directly requested by the exhibitors, and thus recognized as exhibitor badges.
