The Vision Council has just released its latest VisionWatch study that shows how American consumers are influenced by the internet in buying eyewear and making decisions about eye care. It found that 28 percent of people who use the internet to help buy their eyewear, by researching styles, price and where to buy, end up buying their glasses online too. The total of recent eyeglass buyers who bought online was 2.8 percent. For readers, the figure was 1.9 percent; 3.6 percent bought plano sunglasses; and 15 percent bought contact lenses. In November, the Vision Council tallied responses from 9,293 adults who bought prescription eyeglasses, plano sunglasses, contact lenses and readers in the previous six months.
