Three companies – Cecia, Essilor and Visiole - took the Golden Silmo Award this time in the low-vision segment. Visiole got the award for Go Vision, a portable, high-definition video magnifier launched last May by a Korean company, HIMS, for which it is the distributor in France. It can magnify all kinds of documents, including videos and other files taken from a USB stick. It translates text to speech in 18 languages. Visiole has helped improve the product, including the cosmetics. It had taken 145 orders for it in the two months prior to the Silmo trade show. Visiole and HIMS, which stands for Human Information Management Service, have been in the low-vision sector since 1988 and 1999, respectively.
