Tom Davies has invested €60,000 in the renovation of its factory in Shenzhen, which lead to an increase in production capacity by 30 percent. A new IT system allows the company to produce much faster with the same number of staff. Opticians have the choice to use the new IT system “supertool,” which allows them to design their own shapes of frames, rather than only choosing from a library of shapes. When customers leave their e-mail addresses, Tom Davies sends them small films of the production of their customized frames. At the end of October, Tom Davies launches its first iPad app. Tom Davies gained new agents for Spain and Poland during Silmo and is about to sell in Asia, as the company recently won the legal battle for its trademark in China. In Malaysia, a buying group opened a Tom Davies store in July. In the U.K., Tom Davies plans the opening of a TD store in London next year.
