Cecop, the Spanish-based international buying group with 6,700 members worldwide, is launching a new digital event to gather opticians and suppliers from seven countries in which it operates: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, the U.S., Colombia and Mexico. The Cecop Global Community Summit will take place online from March 10 to 16, offering an around-the-clock program of both global and local contents, with simultaneous translation options. The event will be placed under the general theme of TV series with the participation of Juan Fernandez, a Spanish actor featuring in La Casa de Papel, a successful Netflix series, and the production of a fiction created for the occasion, called Eye Connection. 

The online show will kick off with a global day including presentations, conferences and a CEO forum where the post Covid-19 eyewear market will be discussed, among other topics. The following days will focus on local contents, with each country organizing its own marketplace and related events. Cecop expects at least 60 percent of its members to participate in the event but said that non-member opticians will also be able to access the platform at no cost. The company mentioned that it was offering sponsorship and exhibiting programs to industry suppliers interested in participating in the event, but the list of already signed-up companies has not been disclosed.
