Relocated in Orlando, Florida, for pandemic-related reasons, Vision Expo East 2021 was the first major international in-person eyewear trade show to take place since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020. From June 2 to 5, over 200 exhibiting companies took part in the event that brought together thousands of industry people, according to the organizers who did not communicate further details. The show, which featured a strong education program with more than 160 hours of clinical content, was complemented by Vision Expo +, a free digital extension that gathered 1,000 members. ShopVISION, a new global sourcing platform by Vision Expo, was launched during the show, which also saw Essilor and Luxottica exhibit for the first time on the same booth. The next edition of Vision Expo will take place in Las Vegas from Sept. 22 to 25, with the city fully reopened and returned to pre-Covid guidelines since the start of this month.

Just a few days after the show, Reed Exhibitions, co-organiser of Vision Expo with The Vision Council, announced that it was changing its name to RX with a new visual identity and brand positioning. The company said it would leverage its data and technology know-how to create all year-round communities.
