Transitions Optical has launched a British schools program called Eye Know Eye Care, targeting 150,000 primary school children aged 7 to 11 and their parents in conjunction with the Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) and the Association of Optometrists (AOP). The company has teamed up with the National Schools Partnership to put together resources such as lesson plans, activity sheets and competition leaflets to bring eye care into lessons. Launched in September, the program involves eye care professionals collaborating with teachers, and the professional bodies are encouraging practitioners to give presentations at school assemblies. Practitioners who register for the campaign receive a presentation pack including guidance on what to discuss and what to take, display posters and practice window stickers. Transitions Optical has created an interactive sight with child-friendly cartoon characters: www.eyeknoweyecare.com.
