Two American companies, Europtik Eyewear and Reptile Polarized Sunglasses, have merged to form Europtik Group, which has headquarters in Rhode Island. They will continue to use their old brands names, however. Reptile was founded in 1999 by Sam Kotob; Europtik in 2000 by Tom and Robert Clayton. All three men have senior positions in the new company: Kotob as director of operations for sunglass products, and the Claytons as co-managers of operations. Robert Clayton is the director of operations for ophthalmic products. Europtik distributes brands including Jean Lempereur, Karavan and Bermuda Bay/Polaroid. Reptile makes polarized sunglasses with its own lens system.
