Uvex' sales increased in 2006 by 5.3 percent to €275,7 million. While the company's work protection business raised its turnover by 8.6 percent to €185.5 million, the sports branch, trading under the brands Uvex, Alpina and Filtral, had a slight decrease down to €90 million. Uvex still has a strong portion of sales in the domestic Germany market, which accounts for 46 percent of the turnover. A few weeks ago, the company inaugurated an enlarged production facility in the East Bavarian town of Lederdorn, where the staff was increased from 150 to 200 employees. The €4 million investment consolidates the production of motorbike helmets, previous carried out in part in Italy, together with the production of ski goggles and other sports and protective eyewear.
