Vision Express, the British optical retailer that took over Tesco Opticians last year, has inaugurated its first Vision Express at Tesco store in Thurrock, east of London. The shop, that is located within a Tesco Extra in a large retail park, is one of the first to adopt the refreshed corporate brand identity, with a new logo and interior design. Tesco Opticians had a total of 209 stores that will progressively switch to the new retail banner, bringing Vision Express' shop count to almost 600. In order to cope with the growth, Vision Express has invested £1.5 million (€1.7m-$2.1m) in its technical centre near Nottingham, aiming to double its production capacity to more than 2 million pair of glasses by the end of the year.
