Visionix, which plans to introduce two innovative new products at the next Silmo fair, has brought in a new Israeli executive with a lot of product management experience, Herman Haggai, to act as vice president of product development and marketing. He previously ran the electronic division of Scitex, the giant Israeli computer software group. The company is also boosting its own staff from 35 to 50 persons to manufacture 1,000 units a year in response to higher-than-expected orders for its recently overhauled line of diagnostic lens equipment. Visionix says its balance sheet was strong at the end of last year, with cash of $14.2 million, in spite of a reduced loss of $124,000 in 2000 on slightly higher sales of $3,532,000 before special charges. After charges, including R&D investment in its new 3DiView subsidiary, the company had a net loss of $1,579,000.
