Johnson & Johnson's contact lens division has divided Europe into three main regions, with one manager taking on overall responsibility for sales and marketing in each one of them. They all report to Vistakon's UK-based European manager, Paul Donald, who continues to coordinate logistics and other operations.
Jim Gallagher, who was already in charge of the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia, is now taking on additional responsibility for sales and marketing in the Benelux countries. Jean Accad, the general manager for France, is now in charge for the whole new Southern European region, which includes also Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. Markus Gilgen remains in charge of Central Europe, which comprises Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Vistakon hopes to optimize the synergies among the different markets through this system. The company had already reorganized the European supply chain 18 months ago, resulting in more efficient operations.
