VMail reports that Essilor has settled a suit launched last Feb. 22 in a Texas court against Younger Optics, Indizen Optical Technologies (IOT) and VSP Optics Group, which claimed that they had been infringing on a U.S. patent 6149271, covering progressive addition lenses and processes to make them. IOT, a lens design firm owned by Younger and located in Barcelona, developed a lens design software, IOT Futura, that was used by Younger to make semi-finished lenses sold by VSP under the Unity PLxpression name. According to VMail, the defendants have agreed to pay royalties on the designs.
