Wearing glasses could improve one's chances of getting a job, according to a study by the UK's College of Optometrists published by the newspaper Daily Mail. The survey shows that a third of adults think spectacle-wearers look more professional and 43 percent think they appear more intelligent, according to the survey. It added that 40 percent of those with a 20-20 vision would consider wearing clear lenses if it improves their chances of being hired. Cary Cooper, professor of psychology at Lancaster University, told the British newspaper that the idea that intelligent people wear glasses is an old stereotype that has not gone away.
