While Luxottica is disbanding Oakley Europe, two of its former sales managers, Stéphane Devort and Nicolas Saumur, have formed a new company, the Caste(e), to handle the marketing and distribution of eyewear products in the optical retail circuit in France and neighboring countries. They have signed a deal to represent Spy and Initium in this retail channel in France and Switzerland. They are close to signing another deal and are interested in representing other complementary brands. Spy, the eyewear brand of Orange 21, continues to handle the sports retail channel on its own from its European head office in Italy. Initium, another brand from California that comes from the rock & roll culture, was distributed on and off in France in the past. Devort was Oakley's commercial director for France and the Benelux countries for the last seven years. Saumur was sales director for France.
